TEATRINO needs energetic, enthusiastic, dependable and flexible people with Theatre in Education (T.I.E.) experience to participate in an ‘adventure’ that is hard work but extremely rewarding.

TEATRINO actors work in groups of four, touring Italian schools and presenting interactive English Language shows supported by workshops. Performances consist of material adapted for a particular age group, focusing on a particular theme and grammatical point. Pop Music and Culture performers will tour in a group of two and Storytelling performers in a group of three. The overall emphasis is on promoting spoken English in a fun and interactive way.

We are selecting 30 performers to tour across Italy. The entire TEATRINO repertoire (performed across the four tours) consists of:

  • 10 fairytales,
  • Up to 10 sketches,
  • a musical workshop,
  • graded drama-based language workshops and 3 ‘Pop Music and Culture’ workshops for various age groups.

There are five different tours that cover this repertoire:

As a Teatrino performer you will have the opportunity to learn, observe and live the Italian culture and visit many areas and cities all over Italy.

On average the job consists of working up to six contact hours a day, at one or two schools, with travel afterwards which may include distances of 100km and upwards. Performers will be required to work Saturdays in certain areas.

The rehearsal period will either be two or three weeks in January and will take place in Sanremo, Italy. You will receive a total rehearsal wage of €300 or €450 plus shared room accommodation, breakfast and lunch.

Please note, the exact length of the rehearsal period is subject to change.

If hired, we provide a salary of €250 per week for new Teatrino performers and €280 for returning performers whilst on tour (paid monthly), accommodation, car and petrol/travel costs and work insurance. A €50 contribution will be made towards arrival costs and €50 towards leaving costs at the end of tour.

There is also the potential to earn up to €30 per week bonus – depending on the fulfilment of the Employment Conditions.

8 groups tour from January (directly following the rehearsal period) until early June. One group tours from October to December.

Knowledge of the Italian language is obviously useful, but it is not necessary to apply. For those interested, upon completion of the five month contract, there could be the opportunity to participate in our Educo Camps programme throughout Italy.
